ABOUT THE ARTIST
Klaudia Jakieła (born. 2004, Opole, Poland.) is an abstract expressionist painter whose practice centres on trace, gesture, and expressive mark-making. Working intuitively and in relation to the body, their paintings explore experiences that exist beyond language, seeking to communicate through feeling rather than explanation. Through layered surfaces, movement, and colour, the work creates spaces where emotion, memory, and presence can emerge and be encountered. Their practice is informed by an ongoing interest in spirituality and the unexplainable dimensions of human experience. Rather than depicting fixed narratives, the paintings develop through a process of intuition and response, allowing meaning to arise through the act of making itself. The canvas becomes a site where the physical and the intangible meet, and where marks function as traces of sensation, thought, and embodied experience. A significant area of research within her practice concerns the inheritance of the nervous system, particularly through maternal lineage. She is interested in how emotional and physiological patterns may be carried across generations and how these inherited experiences can be explored through the body. Painting serves as both a method of investigation and a restorative practice, offering a means of regulation, reflection, and healing. Through this process-led approach, their work contributes to contemporary conversations surrounding embodiment, memory, spirituality, and the transformative potential of painting.
